Our Products

Very wide range of Exothermic / Insulating Sleeves in various shapes and sizes are manufactured having different "M.E.F.", from 1.3 to 1.8 as per requirement.

Rutech's Feeding System products provide:

  • Improved yield, by dramatically reducing the amount of feed metal required to produce a sound casting through the consistent thermal performance of the products.
  • Reduced defects, by providing consistent feed performance where required in castings, eliminating "unavoidable" shrink-related defects inherent in some component designs.
  • Increased productivity, because smaller risers may make room for more castings per pattern or flask, thereby increasing foundry productivity in large increments. Small risers and attached breaker cores also reduce the contact area that must be cleaned, leading to additional productivity improvements.
  • Improved quality, because the superior metallurgical and physical properties of properly fed castings improve the overall quality of the finished product.

Wide Range of Hot Tops for small, medium & large Ingots are manufactured as Super Imposed, Semi Inserted & Full Inserted in following designs : (Dimensions as per Mould Design)

  1. Single piece / Multi piece in Exothermic.
  2. Single piece / Multi piece in Insulating.

Commonly available Hot Tops for Mold sizes are –

6 x 8, 7 x 9, 9 x 11, 10 x 12, 11 x 13, 11 x 14, 13 x 16, 17 x 19, 19 x 21 (fluted), 22 x 26, 25 x 29, M6, M8 (29 x 31), M9, M13 etc. in set.

Properties obtained will be –

  1. RI Top is light in weight, robust and flexible and lending itself ideally to use in all sizes of molds as per requirement.
  2. Reduces undesirable segregation of impurities and increases the yield of sound steel in the final ingot.
  3. Influences the amount and position of cavitation by reducing it to a minimum and locating it where it will be the least harmful in the solidified ingot.

Fluxes play a very important role in Iron & Steel Industries. The fluxes are produced to match the requirements of the iron & steel industry to obtain maximum benefits.

Rutech's CoverExo-S hot toppings are exothermic / insulating, low-density, efficient riser toppings, providing good flowability, good expansion, and good heat retention. Rutech's riser topping compounds spread quickly and evenly over the entire molten metal surface, without raking. Little smoke is generated during the exothermic reaction as the compound expands to at least twice its original thickness.

The resulting highly efficient insulating cover remains soft and non-cracking, maintaining maximum insulating value as it follows the head metal down.

  • Excellent flowability for complete coverage
  • Excellent insulation properties
  • High energy heat output minimizes chill
  • Consistency of performance
  • Ease of use
  • Economy of application

The main fluxes produced are as follows:

  1. COVEREXO-S – Exothermic Anti-Piping Compound used in Risers (Swelling Type).
  2. THERMOFORM – Exothermic Compound (Minimum 35–40% metal yield).
  3. COREX – Ready-made insulating base gum in 2 kg bottles (A Core-Mould Joining Compound).
  4. FERROTEEM – Bottom pouring / teeming compound for ingot mould castings.

Water-based coatings

  1. ZIR Aqua (ready to use) coatings are water-based slurry refractory coatings for cores and molds. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is typically a high-purity zircon. ZIR Aqua coatings are recommended for use in the casting of iron and steel alloys and should be used where metal casting sections are in the medium to heavy size range.
  2. Cera Aqua (ready to use) is an economical wash recommended for small metal castings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is a mixed refractory of zircon, sillimanite & alumina.
  3. Grapho Zir Aqua (paste form) is recommended for S.G. Iron & Grey Cast Iron heavy-section mould castings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is a mixed refractory of zircon & graphite.
  4. Grapho Aqua (paste form) is recommended for small cast iron metal castings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is purely graphite.

Properties obtained will be as follows:

  • Excellent rheology (flow characteristics) provides a highly uniform coating layer to molds or cores when applied via brush, spray or flow-coat methods.
  • Outstanding suspension characteristics; sediment is soft and easily re-dispersed.
  • The resultant coated surface is hard and smooth, free from runs and drips.
  • As-cast surface quality is excellent (no burn-in, burn-on or penetration defects), even with the heaviest casting sections.
  • Strip / peel of sand from the casting surface at shakeout is significantly improved.
  • Casting cleaning costs are greatly reduced.
  • Compatible with all types of chemically bonded sand and green sand.

Thinner solvent-based coatings (ready to use)

  1. ZIR Flash coatings are flammable, solvent-based mould and core coatings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is a high-purity zircon. ZIR Flash coatings are recommended for use in the casting of iron, steel and non-ferrous alloys and can be used across a wide range of metal casting sections.
  2. MAGNO Flash coatings are flammable, solvent-based mould and core coatings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is high-purity dead-burnt magnesite powder. MAGNO Flash coatings are recommended for use in magnesite-based steel castings.

These coatings provide excellent casting surface quality. The resultant casting finish is smooth and free from burn-in, burn-on and metal penetration defects. These coatings are easy to apply and economical to use, significantly reducing casting cleaning costs.

  1. Grapho Zir Flash (paste form) is recommended for S.G. Iron & Grey Cast Iron heavy-section mould castings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is a mixed refractory of zircon & graphite.
  2. Grapho Flash (paste form) is recommended for small cast iron metal castings. The principal refractory contained in these coatings is purely graphite.
